What the card shows
An old man with a long white beard and a walking staff sits on a stone step beside a heavy wooden gateway, two thick-coated white dogs at his feet. A little way off stands a young family: a man in indigo, a woman in a red robe patterned with white blossom, and a small child in green looking up at them. Through the gate lie a paved courtyard and a house with tiled roofs. An old pine spreads across the top of the scene and a red maple glows at one side. Bronze discs marked with stars float through the air in a tall pattern.
In Rider–Waite–Smith tarot the Ten of Pentacles shows an old man with two dogs at a gate, a couple and child beyond, ten pentacles laid out as the Tree of Life. It is the card of legacy: family, home and wealth that last beyond one lifetime.
Ten of Pentacles in love

Ten of Pentacles in work
Long-term security, a family business, pensions, property. Think in decades, not quarters.
