inspiration · spark · new venture · potential

Reversed meaning

The spark is there but will not catch. Delay, doubt or scattered energy. Or the start is being held back until it can be done perfectly.

What the card shows

A hand reaches out of a curling white cloud on the left and grips a single green bamboo pole. Leaves are sprouting from its upper joints. Behind it hangs a pale sun ringed in vermilion, and below a river runs between pine-covered slopes toward a castle on a far hill.

In Rider–Waite–Smith tarot the Ace of Wands shows a hand from a cloud offering a budding wooden staff, with a castle in the distance. Wands belong to fire: will, desire and creative energy. The hand from the cloud marks a gift that arrives rather than one that is earned, and the living leaves show that the idea is still growing. The castle is where it might lead, far off and not yet reached. Bamboo, which grows fast and straight, suits the card well.

Ace of Wands in love

New attraction or fresh warmth in an old bond. Something wants to grow. Answer it plainly.

Ace of Wands in work

A new project, a fresh start or a burst of drive. Begin the first real piece of it while the energy is high.

As advice

Choose the idea that keeps coming back and do the first real thing toward it today, however small. A shoot is easier to plant than a tree.

Ace of Wands: yes or no

Yes

The spark is offered and the energy is fresh; the card leans yes, especially for anything new.

A question to keep

What idea keeps returning, asking to be started?
